Change Starts with You
Everything that surrounds us
refers to our environment. It consists of both living and non-living organisms.
The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the ecosystem we live in all have a
role, and so do we. All constitute the environment. As the world continues to
develop and improve, the more our environment suffers. Air pollution, water pollution, and loss of
wildlife habitat are just some of the adverse effects of urban and economic
development. The state of the Earth dramatically changed over the years, and it
is us, humans, at fault for being irresponsible in caring for our surroundings.
National Clean-Up Month encourages us to be part of the movement for change, to leave a cleaner and healthier world for future generations. It is not too late to change and save what remains of our environment. Being aware is not enough; we must all do our parts and fulfill our roles in caring for the environment. Here are ten simple things we can do to help care for the environment: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, volunteer in community clean-ups, educate yourself so that you can help make others understand the importance and value of natural resources, conserve water, choose to be sustainable, shop wisely, use long-lasting light bulbs, plant a tree, don't pollute our waters with chemicals, and bike more, drive less.
