Empowering Women Together

Women are frequently undermined and doubted because they have female characteristics—because they were born female. Women are men's property, males are vastly superior to women, and women must adhere to bizarre rules or directions or face mockery from our society. This mindset has become a big part of our culture and is deeply rooted in our way of thinking. When will we break free from this misogynistic manner of thinking?

You can't do this—that, you can't wear this—that, this is for boys—not for girls—not for you. Remarks like these continue to boggle my mind because I can't wrap around the fact that women and girls like me do not receive the same treatment—the same respect as the opposite gender. What makes the opposite gender more remarkable than my own? Why is it that we are not held in the same regard when both genders can do the same job—accomplish the same thing, get the work done and achieve the same results.

Women are incredible and beautiful creatures that are just as capable as men in our society. Many, though, are being held back. That proves that we still have a long way to go before achieving gender equality.

Empowered women come in different forms, colors, and sizes. It can be a prominent politician, a busy mother, a business owner, or even a young girl with a strong sense of self-worth—all are examples of empowered women. I believe that instead of undervaluing and making women feel worthless, we should all be part of the positive movement of making them feel respected and valued.

During the pandemic, we saw a lot of empowered women. They are taking on significant roles and responsibilities—serving as a vital part of our society. From front-line workers, leaders, volunteers, and teachers to our mothers, sisters, and female relatives who shone brighter than anyone else during these times of distress. They have worked so hard but gained little to no recognition and appreciation for their sacrifices, yet they continue to strive and thrive.

Women are our strengths; they are the real architects of our society. For women to attain their full potential, they must be empowered and encouraged. If we can do that, we are one step closer to achieving a better society, nation, and world where women won't need to cower and hide.
